Hi! Thanks so much for checking out our business! We are Chad and Brianna, owners of CastleBridge Company LLC.
Chad and I love to make homes beautiful and to build things from the ground up. When others see an impossible task, we see a fun challenge. A love for house and home have been central to our personal and business journey. Over the years, our understanding of what home means has evolved, and is likely ever evolving. Currently, to us, a house is the structure that supports the life that takes place inside its walls. It is the backbone for the countless laughs, the occasional tears, and the lasting memories. A house deserves to be sustained with quality craftsmanship so that you are given the opportunity to make those memories. A home is the feeling of love and contentment created within the house. Feeling is attached to what once was the basic components of the house; the door through which you enter after a long day’s work to find rest, the hallway where little feet patter, the window next to your favorite chair where you watch the seasons change. For Chad and I, it is impossible to disentangle house from home. What does that mean? It means that every remodeling or home repair job is completed from a place of respect and compassion for not only the structure (house) but for the life being lived on the inside (home). It is our goal to simply help you to love your house, in whatever way that may be for you, so that you can continue to make and cherish memories within your home.
As I mentioned, our understanding of what home means has been continuously evolving. Below is a timeline of our journey. As you can see, house and home have been integral in weaving our path together.
-2013: Chad had been buying and renovating houses for several years while also making good use of his business degree from Illinois State University (Go Red Birds!) running his family business, an awards and engraving store. Meanwhile, I was completing my undergraduate degree from Illinois Wesleyan University (Go Titans!).
-2015: It was not hard to see that Chad’s true passion was in renovation. By this time, I had also fallen in love with the world of renovation and design (and Chad 😊). Chad and his family sold their awards business, and Chad and I decided to take a chance and focus our time and attention on house renovations.
-2015-2018: Chad and I renovated and sold several homes in Central Illinois. We learned so much about ourselves during this chapter of our lives. We learned that we work really well together as a team, that we love seeing the potential in houses, making something beautiful again, and that providing someone with a quality and beautifully designed home was one of the best feelings.
-2018: This was both an exciting and bittersweet year for us. It was the year we got married (exciting!) and the year we packed up everything we owned in a U-Haul and made our new home in Madison, WI so that I could begin my doctoral program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Go Badgers!). We bought a little townhouse that needed some cosmetic updates and made it our own. We were sad that our time renovating homes full time was coming to a temporary end, but we knew that we wanted to work together again someday.
-2018-2021: Chad worked for a nonprofit that specialized in home repairs and weatherization. We found a beautiful house to move into that needed some updates and a few floor plan changes. We framed out and designed a laundry room and office in what was previously a den, and we added a master bathroom. Diving into this project reminded us of how much we enjoy renovations. In the fall of 2020, we welcomed our first daughter, Mariah, into our family. By the end of 2021, we bought another house to renovate and sell, and this time we had a little assistant toddling around with a pretty pink hard hat 😊.
-2022: This was a busy year! We finished our renovations on the flip house, and it sold within 2 days on the market…it was my favorite house to design so far, and I was so excited that another family loved it as much as I did! Chad left his job to become an independent contractor. He began doing home repairs and remodeling projects for clients throughout the Dane County area. He also began woodworking on the side, creating and selling both indoor and outdoor furniture pieces. In September, we welcomed baby girl number two, Avery, into our family, and by November, we were looking for yet another renovation project. We did not realize what we were searching for would become our largest project yet.
-2023-present: In January 2023, we decided we wanted to move closer to family. We bought our forever house… a farmhouse that is over 120 years old with a machine shed and a barn on a little bit of land in Central Illinois. While I was finishing up my graduate program, we would make trips down to IL to design and begin demolition. The house only had a boiler system for heat and it never had central air conditioning, which meant we had to gut the inside in order to install an HVAC system. We completely reworked the floor plan and added an addition. This has been our biggest project to date, but we have welcomed the challenge to preserve and honor as much of the character and charm of the original home as possible while adding modern amenities (read central heat and air!). I always wanted to settle down in an old home with history and charm. Chad was drawn more to newer construction. This was the best of both worlds. Now as our design and renovation projects are winding down for our own home (although who are we kidding… there will always be more projects), we are excited to jump back into the home repair, design, and remodeling business! Although we loved our time in WI, and we gained valuable experience (both in renovation and in home repairs), we are happy to be back in Central Illinois, the place we both grew up. We cannot wait to share our love of everything house and home with you!
